Below are tips to help make your MakeMusic Cloud playing test more successful:

  • Make sure you have practiced the material before you attempt the playing test. You can practice with MakeMusic, including playing along with "My Part" to make sure you sound like the MakeMusic part.

  • If the assignment will not load, make sure that your camera is turned on.

    • Click on the icon immediately to the left of the web address in the address bar and click the slider to turn on camera access.

  • For a better recording quality, adjust your microphone sensitivity to about 75%.

    • Click on the battery or wifi icon on the device task bar, click on the speaker/volume settings, and adjust the microphone level to about 75%.

  • Read the music off of your book/binder instead of your screen with your instrument pointed at a slight angle away from the Chromebook.

    • Pointing your instrument directly at your Chromebook overloads the microphone and negatively effects recording quality.

  • MakeMusic now works on phone, which have better microphones. Use your book/binder instead of trying to read the music off of a smaller screen.

  • If you are getting frustrated, practice away from the computer for a little while and come back to it later.

  • Save your best take/attempt from a practice session just in case it's your best recording and want to submit it by the due date.

    • Make sure there is a checkmark next to the recording you want to save in the "takes" list. Click the Save button and follow the prompts.
