Megan Czerwieski

Mrs. Czerwieski is beginning her thirteenth year as the head band director at Red Oak Middle School, having taught previously at Barnett JH in Arlington, TX and Lamar MS in Temple, TX. She is passionate about education and actually began teaching private horn lessons as a high school student. Under her direction, the Red Oak Honors Band has received consistent Sweepstakes Awards at UIL as well as comments from adjudicators on the high level of musicianship exhibited by her students. Mrs. Czerwieski holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Baylor University and a master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmaster Association, and Texas Music Adjudicators Association. She lives with her husband, John, in Waxahachie with their rescue dog, Dottie. In her spare time, she serves on the board of directors and plays horn in the Mansfield Wind Symphony and enjoys reading, watching movies, and playing with her dog.​​

Chris Eaton

Mr. Eaton is entering his sixteenth year teaching in Red Oak as the assistant band director at Red Oak Middle School. He previously taught in Jasper, TX. Mr. Eaton completed both his master’s and bachelor’s degrees at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. While at SFA he performed in many ensembles including Wind Ensemble, the Swingin' Axes Jazz Band, SFA Trombone Choir, and the Orchestra of the Pines; he was also a graduate assistant with duties including teaching members of the Trombone Studio and managing Cole Concert Hall.  He studied trombone with Dr. Deb Scott, and conducting with Mr. Fred J. Allen and Mr. Gene Moon. Mr. Eaton is married to Katie Eaton who also teaches at Red Oak Middle School. They live in Waxahachie with their son - Jackson, daughter - Harper, dog - Rusty, and their 12 chickens. ​

Percussion

​​​Houston Youngman

Mr. Youngman is in his second year as the percussion director for Red Oak ISD. He graduated from the University of North Texas in 2020 with a degree in percussion performance. He has studied under Paul Rennick, Christopher Deane, Mark Ford, Ed Smith, Poovalur Sriji, and Stockton Helbing among other acclaimed faculty. He aged out on the Troopers tenor line in 2019 and won first place in the PASIC 2019 I&E Small Ensemble division with the UNT Quad Ensemble. 
 
Mr. Youngman previously worked at Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, Texas, where he served as a private lessons instructor, drumline technician, and percussion arranger. His students have achieved success in many areas, including numerous caption and placement awards at marching contests in the DFW area, and success in the Texas All-Region and All-State auditions.

​​David (DJ) Talbot

Mr. Talbot will be joining the Red Oak Band family as the Assistant Percussion Director. Originally from Northwest Arkansas, Mr. Talbot holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Arkansas. He recently earned his Master’s degree in Percussion Performance from East Texas A&M University. Mr. Talbot was also an active performer in both DCI and WGI, most notably with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps and Resistance Indoor Percussion.
 

During his graduate studies, he served as the Percussion Director at Commerce ISD, where his students found success across many areas of percussion. Under his leadership, the CISD percussion program had multiple ATSSB All-State Percussionists and Texas State Solo and Ensemble Outstanding Performers. The program also made history by performing at a percussion ensemble festival for the first time.
 

Mr. Talbot is thrilled to join the Red Oak community—alongside his two cats, Princess and Zora.​​
