What is Percussion? How do I Audition?
In Percussion, we study all instruments that are struck, shaken, or scraped. Percussionists uniquely have independent parts that come together to form the tempo for the rest of the band.
Percussion is a 7-year curriculum starting in sixth grade that goes all the way until senior year in high school! Students do not simply play one instrument. We will learn snare drum, mallet instruments, accessories (tambourine, crash cymbals, triangle, bongos, etc.), and so many more.
How do I Audition?
Fifth Graders, come to the Red Oak Middle School or Dr. Joy Shaw Middle School Band Fittings! You will get to try out a bunch of wind instruments and audition for percussion.
